NGIGE FILES HIS CASE IN COURT THIS MORNINING

The Action Congress candidate in the February 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Dr Chris Ngige has gone to court this morning to challenge the outcome of the election which declared Mr Peter Obi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance winner. Dr Ngige has alleged that his supporters were disenfranchised in areas of his political strength. He maintains the view that Mr Peter Obi did not win the mandatory 25 percent of the total votes cast in 2/3 of the local governments. The INEC Form EC8E provides columns for the number of the invalid votes cast, valid votes cast, and the total votes cast. The contention is whether the total votes cast should consist of the valid votes only or the valid votes and invalid votes. While APGA maintains that Mr Peter Obi won in 15 out of the 21 local government areas in Anambra State, AC maintains that he won only in 13 local governments.
